About Us
The Pineapple as a Symbol of Hospitality.
The pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality since the days of the early American colonies. The legend began with the sea captains of New England, who sailed to the Caribbean Islands and returned to the colonies with exotic fruits and spices.
When clipper ships returned to port, their families would spear a precious pineapple on their iron gatepost as a common symbol to welcome friends and neighbors into their homes to celebrate the safe return of the captain and crew. The pineapple was an invitation for them to visit, share his food and listen to the tales of their voyage. Pineapple Manor has adopted the symbol of the pineapple to create a unique blend of tropical paradise and traditional southern hospitality, perfect for your special event.
Our Business
Rob and Phyllis Cary are the owners of the Pineapple Manor. Before they moved to East Texas, the Carys lived on a pineapple plantation in Hawaii for almost eight years.
Although the Carys loved their new home, they missed the evergreens and year round flowers of the tropics, so they decided to move paradise to East Texas.
The Carys implemented their plan by each year adding more live oaks, azaleas, camellias, gardenias and many varieties of palms to the landscaping. They are now able to spend time in the mild Texas winters, relaxing in their gazebo and enjoying the lush, fragrant, colorful fruits of their labor and a tropical taste of Hawaii.
After their daughter was married at their home, they decided to share their property with the public so others can enjoy a memorable experience.
